Wow, just did a lot of work cleaning up my site. Got pictures up again, cleaned out a whole bunch of broken links (and added a lot too), even cleared out some old blogs (however, I left all the ones that were very neglected up since my site has been the same way, never know if they'll come back I suppose..). The subject of my blog says "keeping up to date with Guss" and I guess you can't really do that unless I actually post, so I'm back. I went to college at Rose-Hulman. It's a pretty tough school, but I'm managing. I joined the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity in the fall and now am an active brother. A few days ago (February 16th) I celebrated my 2 year anniversary with my lovely girlfriend Jennifer. College life has kept me pretty busy, but I still call her almost every day and we're doing fine. Anyhow, I'm just gonna start posting and see if anyone realizes that I'm back. The new 5CG website has inspired me to work on this site again. The message board is working, I cleaned up the Guestbook, and feel free to try all the links I have going. Also, feel free to post your own events down at the bottom of the site, and email me or leave comments on anything you think would be worthy of hosting on here (i.e. some great link). Next week I have finals so I'm going to go study. ~Out

Yesterday was funny. I had to go on a field trip to Bosse for my business class to practice eating etiquitte. The reason why we went over to Bosse is because they have a cooking class over there. They were practicing cooking while we were practicing eating... I like this scenario. Not to mention we had to take the short bus there and back, that was very cramped and kinda funny looking. Then after that I went over to Nif's and we played Halo and ate some Hardees. Fun stuff ~Out

Well I know I haven't posted in awhile, been a busy guy. Just got done with my huge Senior Scrapbook project, or rather Nif just got finished with it. I typed the 15 pages of stuff but there was also 30 pages of pictures. Yeah that took forever, I'm glad I'm done. I can't wait for school to be done with, I'm just about tired of highschool. Today there's another stupid assembly, and the first week of May will be crazy. I've got the vocational assembly and the introduction to the National Honors Society. My mom and Zach's mom got together to plan a big graduation party thing for just our friends and after Zach and I showed absolutely NO INTEREST AT ALL I think they thought better of it. They received responses like "well ok but do I have to go?" or "no". I'm starving again. Current craving: All American Melt from Steak and Shake and Nick's Wings... luckily I have both at home waiting on me!!! ~Out

Prom was fun. I asked off in the morning so I could sleep in, I knew I'd need the rest. Picked up the flowers at about 1, and had to start getting ready by around 4. Stopped by Nif's house first and picked her up. She looked really hot in her dress. Then we all met up at my house since more people knew where that was. It was Me, Nif, Tim, Breanna, Zach, Lindsey Benedict, Scott, and his date (whom nobody knew) Lisa. Pictures and the like, chat chat, then we left for dinner. We ate at Raffy's, which was really fancy, I had never been there before. Dinner was fun, we had lots of funny discussions, then we left for prom. The prom environment was pretty entertaining heh. Zach is now the biggest white boy I've ever seen, yes yes, more than Moe. I've never seen such... creative dancing in my life. We also decided to get a group picture, but we didn't know exactly what we wanted to do in the picture, we just wanted it funny. The photographer said he'd come up with something for us, so he started putting us in poses, then all of a sudden he took the picture and sent us on our way. Well in the picture, the only thing that was funny was how horrible it was. I went back in to talk it over with him and we got free reshoots. After prom we went to the 'Afterprom' thing at Arc Lanes. Lots of Pizza and bowling. I came in second to last in the first round, Zach being king loser, but in the second round I came in second to first, with Zach being just king. Odd flip of scores. Then they were handing out prizes. Ironically enough, I won a $20 gift certificate to Showplace Cinemas... Yeah I'll get a lot of use from that since Nif gets me in free. By the time bowling was over I was already pretty tired, and so was Nif, so we didn't go over to Scott's house cuz we would have just fallen asleep. Was good times ;) ~Out

Ok this is a much needed post. For all of you out there who recently purchased FF11, you're making a mistake. Firstly, Moe, you've never played EQ, so you can't like this oh so much better than it if you haven't had it yet, you just don't know. Secondly, I've PLAYED BOTH, I KNOW which game is better. Thirdly, you can get almost all of the expansions now plus the game for only $30, and your first month is free. Fourthly, I already play EQ and have high levels, I could help you out on there as well as you could hang out with me. Fifthly, EQ has lasted MUCH LONGER than any other MMORPG out there today, it produces much more profit than any other one as well because of the many hundreds of thousands of users (probably over a million by now) who have played it for so long. Games like FF11 have born and died quickly. So all I'm saying is, until you've tried EQ, you just don't know, and you need to before you get too involved into FF11 to where you *think* this game is so awesome that you're blinded to see what lives outside the shell. That's all I'm saying... ~Out

It lives! Came home from work and it was sitting in the rec room in its glory next to a ft long sub from subway. I knew I had some work ahead of me, but the night was young. At first glance the system looked amazing, all of the power cables from the power supply were nicely bound up at the top so they didn't hang in front of my fans, major help when you've got a 550W. Well the first thing I noticed was that a metal shield for the PCI slots was missing... no problem there, just replaced it with a spare that I had. Then I went to plug in my monitor and the cable pushed through the back of the chasis, hmmm.... Apparently he didn't feel like screwing in my gfx card, so I had to do that. No problem again since I had extra screws. These problems were understandable, but then after I've got the system up and running, all of my hardware needed drivers installed, so I went to put in a CD and the CD-Rom wouldn't open up... Then I notice that it's having no signs of life at all... Sure enough the CD-Rom's power wasn't plugged in at all. That was the end of the mistakes but it was slightly annoying to have to do that stuff. Someone who was completely pc illiterate would have probably had to go back to the store to have it fixed again. Luckily I'm not retarded... /whew. Was up to about 11 installing things and getting stuff ready. Still a few minor things I need to fix, but Bates should be over today to help out. My new motherboard is uber. It has tons of new features including FastTrak and a nice quickboot feature which lets the pc go past most of the testing so it can boot up faster than I can run downstairs and grab a drink. Hopefully will be able to meet up on EQ and catch up with some people who I'm sure have wondered where I was lately. Got some stuff I need to do. Prom's coming up too, that'll be fun. Senior prom! Hah the whole afterprom thing lasts until like 3:30. I doubt I'll stay that long. I got off from work so that I could sleep in, will help me stay up until the wee hours of morning. Hope to see you guys there. ~Out

Ok, here's the sad story that is my spring break...
I had just gotten home from work on Saturday. Enjoyed about 2 hours of what would have been MANY hours of fun gaming and relaxation during the break when it happened. Thunderstorm, computer goes out with the power. /sigh oh well, waited about 20 seconds, power came back on, pc turned on just fine, and away I went. About another half hour later my pc just dies... I was sad, didn't know what happened, but figured it was something to do with the storm. Now the computer was on a surge protector, but it was an expired protector, but then again, everything else on the protector was fine! Made no sense. I took it in to computers plus to have it checked out. The tech wasn't there at the moment so they said that he'd get around to it by about Wednesday! I was like, omg that's half the spring break right there. So I waited, and waited, and the wait is still going actually, and it sucks. Beaten Metal Gear Solid about 4 times now. Messed around on some other games too. Well they finally finished the diagnosis today (day late) and they said that it was only the motherboard! I was happy, it could have been over $1500 worth of damage. Well our motherboard has a 1 year warrenty on it. The whole process of shipping it and getting it back can take up to 6 weeks! PLUS ABIT has a high fail rate on their motherboards (lots of researching in free time) so it would be pointless to just get another one and wait for the same thing to happen again. Instead I'm upgrading to an ASUS which is an overall better motherboard anyway. The tech is going to install and everything since I'm lazy and it'll be done around Monday-Tuesday. So yeah, NO COMPUTER ALL OF SPRING BREAK. That is HELL. At least the damage was only about $250 since I'm upgrading the motherboard, but still, so much extra time now that is BORING. ON TOP OF THAT, I got tonsilitis and strep throat the day after my computer crashed, so here I am, bored, sick, and enjoying my spring break in this miserable state. I would have rather had school and at least had my computer than this crap. What a terrible spring break for my senior year. Not to mention a lot of my friends are out of town (Florida mainly) so yeah that sucks too. On a much cooler note however, Nif and I went to see Dawn of the Dead last night. I loved it, great movie, and actually decently scary too. Anyway, tired of all the BS going on here lately, just waiting for something else to suck, will probably end up on more MGS on GCN again. Tired, ~Out

Well I've been kinda busy lately, so just now getting to post about this. Last Wednesday we had our spring concert for orch/band and I won the Kiwanis award! This is the fourth year in a row that I've gotten the award in Orchestra, but the first year where it mattered. I'm sure I've managed to tick off my share of classmates. Anyhow, when I was called up Mr. Shelley shook my hand and then asked for a speech! I was like, uh, no... and then he pulled me over to the microphone anyway. Well, for lack of anything better to say I grin and say "Orchestra is fun..." Then the rest of my speech went something like... "Heh nah I've been in the orchestra for 4 years now and had a good time, also been in band during that time, and I've had to put up with Shelley that whole time so I probably deserve some recognition for that" **crowd laughs** "Nah just kidding, Steve's a great instructor and I've learned a lot here, thanks" **clap clap** Then Clay won the Kiwanis for Band. His speech was fine until the awkward laugh at the end, but ok nonetheless. My mom said that she can never trust me in public... she's right heh. After the concert was over I asked Nif to prom in my sly way, and of course she said yes. Don't think anybody saw that coming... Well this week is spring break, and I will enjoy it. I still have to work which sucks but I get a lot of time away from school which will be nice. Probably will try to work on my monk on EQ and play the remake of Metal Gear Solid on GCN. Fun stuff ok tired now ~Out

Well just got back from Indianapolis Tuesday. Was fun so here's the story...
I woke up at 4am Sunday morning (having got 3.5 hours of sleep that night) to get a quick shower and head out the door at 4:30. I picked up a liter of Mt. Dew on the way to Central where I met up with everyone else. We didn't get our coach buses because one of them broke down and in order to be fair nobody got a coach bus. On the way up to Indi we played GBA and watched episodes of Family Guy on a laptop. Once at the hotel, we had to wait in the lobby with our luggage because our rooms were not yet ready. Well it took us about 5 minutes to be bored of that 2 hour wait, so we had to improvise. Nathan pulled out his laptop to play DDR on the pc. I played a song to show off cuz it was necessary. Then someone pulled out one of the school's projector's, hooked up an xbox to it, and hooked up dance pads to the xbox. Before you knew it we had a DDR station with a 10ft bigscreen tv. The projection on the wall was large, but the lights made it pretty dim. Not to mention the pads were the papery kind so it's not as easy to play on those. I played some songs as well as some others and then people from outside the lobby area that we were at started to come in and watch too. After we got too tired from the dancing, we pulled out another laptop and started watching some more episodes of Family Guy. Tim then had to leave for his Java test, so we had to carry his luggage upstairs (we being Scott) whenever we got our room. It took us about 10 minutes to set up camp and about another 5 minutes before Bates started to crack the tv's "no console" protection thing on the back of it. Scott and I watched even more Family Guy as Bates worked on that. As time drew nearer, Scott and I had to go get ready for our VB test so Family Guy got put away for a few. After we got ready, Scott and I met down in the lobby. We had to carry some laptops and some crates filled with printer, router, and ethernet cords. Well the only thing that was left was the crate with the printer, and Greg, being the last one to show up (about 15 minutes late) didn't want to carry it. I said, "Greg, you're the last one here, you get to carry the crate". He said, "Shut up Josh, I want to carry a laptop." Well if there weren't witnesses he would have died right there. My anger towards him is undescribable and the only thing I could think of was "If only I had a gun..." At the contest a number of things went wrong. Mrs. Walker forgot the power cord to the router so only one of us could be hooked up to the printer at once. They also decided to mix in the .net people with the 6.0 people, making the test really not too fair. Nothing seemed to work right at all, and Tim didn't even have an A-drive. The rules of state competition are so pointless that it's almost as if they put them there just to be bastards. Well after the printer didn't work, and the fact that only half of my vb stuff was installed on my laptop, I was about to just walk out not caring. Greg then decides that he's going to stay half an hour longer trying to get his stuff to print way after the time the contest was over. This did not help his faction with me... After returning to the room we waited for Chris to get done and ordered a pizza from Dinatos (sp?). That pizza was freakin awesome. After we finished that up (didnt' take long) we got ready for the meeting at 9. Well we all showed up for that one, but me, scott, bates, and nathan decided that we really didn't want to waste 2 hours there, that meeting is always the most boring out of the usual boring stuff. So anyway, yeah we skipped it and watched a lot more Family Guy. That night was a needed sleep to catch up for the lack of sleep the night before. The next morning I had to get up to take the HTML test. This test was REALLY EASY. I was the last to turn it in and I was done in 15 minutes. It had 50 questions, so I was basically filling them in as fast as I could. After that test we waited for Chris to get done with his grading but he was running really late so we just went to the mall anyway, we were starving. We ate and then went over to the Arcade to get our DDR on. There was a black guy there that was really good. I wanted to play so I played him. He picks some hard song on heavy and I barely beat him. Then another harder song on heavy, I barely beat him again, and one more time, same thing again. Well after that I was getting pretty tired. I hadn't played in a long while and I was out of shape. Well he was just upset that I beat him so he insisted I play again. I was like, ok.... Well then he starts hammering me cuz I couldn't even stand anymore. I played until my legs gave out and then used my arms to hold myself up on the bar. After about 9 songs on heavy I was done for the day. My legs wouldn't work and I'm still sore 3 days later. We also played some other games like a sniper game, some 2 person shooters, and a really cool air hockey game. After that, and after Chris showed up, we just started having some fun. There was a cow machine that you are supposed to milk or something. I laid down on my back underneath it and acted like I was drinking. Bates then got behind it (I had to hold him up so he was high enough) and grabbed the cow's butt and smiled. Then we went over to a horse racing game where Bates and Scott played each other. I got on the horse with Bates and acted like I was having a ride of my own. We got all that on picture or film and it's histerical, so ask Tim if you want to see it or me if I ever get the video from him. As we were running out of time we stopped by an EB in the mall where I bought Metroid: Zero Mission. It's a pretty good game, I'm over halfway through it now. We then went to the Old Spaghetti Factory and ate. After dinner we went back to the room for more Family Guy. Well we got in trouble for skipping the first meeting so we had to stay for this one. It wasn't too bad. We all played GBA through it heh. You could look down the row and see everyone's faces glowing. That night I just laid in bed watching Family Guy while the others played D&D. Apparently Bates had some fun with me while I was sleeping, and that's on video to. The next morning we had to go to the meeting for awards. The VB was screwed all to hell, Greg was the only one to place and he got 2nd, so you KNOW something's wrong with that. The HTML test was so easy that it was probably a timed test, and I was last to turn it in. Bates got 2nd in both his areas and Nathan is making it to Nationals in one area. Tim managed to barely squeek into Nationals by default, he got 7th but one person didn't care enough to show up and another didn't want to go. I guess that's an achievement /shrug. I honestly didn't want to go to Nationals anyway, I was just hoping to place though. Nationals consists of going with a few people that you know, not nearly as exciting as State, and with Greg going, I'm glad I'll be here to miss him. On the way home I called Nif to say hi. She asked how it was going and I said, "Well, Bates did some nasty things to me while I was asleep last night." She said, "Oh no." I said, "Don't worry, I didn nasty thing to him while he was awake..." Pretty funny stuff. On the way home we stopped by the mall to play some more DDR. Aparently we had a crowd watching us play at one point. We all got subs to take on the bus so we could play there and eat later. More GBA on the way home.. Then when we got there, Scott and I realized that we could catch Academic Superbowl if we wanted to, so he rode with me and Tim with Tim's mom over to Nif's house to get my car (she was cleaning it while I was gone), and when we got there we decided that we would rather just go back to my house instead... Scott then proceeded to tear one of my dance pads heh, at least it might have been him. Later Nif came over so we could catch up for lost time heh. Good stuff, fun time, and thank god, it's over =P.
Yesterday we also had a halfday, early dismissal. That's a nice way to ease back into school right? After school me, Zach, Scott, and Bates went over to the Great Wall for food, then over to McVan's to look for Ninja Gaiden. They didn't have it but oh well. After that I went to work, so I really didn't get a lot of free time from the dismissal thing... oh well. ~Out
